Candidate FAQ 2026

Navigate Your Next Executive Move with Confidence.

Direct answers to everything you want to know before engaging with an executive search firm. Confidentiality, process, timelines, compensation, and what makes working with Artemis different from every recruiter call you have ignored.

01

Confidentiality & Privacy

Your career is personal. Here is exactly how we protect it at every stage.

We never share your resume, LinkedIn profile, or identifying details with any client without a live conversation and your explicit written consent. Period. Your materials are stored in an encrypted applicant tracking system with SOC 2 controls. Nothing sits on local drives or gets forwarded via open email. If you upload a resume through our site, it routes directly into that secure system.

If you are currently employed and exploring opportunities confidentially, we understand the stakes. We will not contact your current employer, reference anyone at your company, or take any action that could compromise your position without your direct authorization.

Not through us. We use blind project descriptions when presenting opportunities, we do not reference your name to clients until you authorize it, and we never reach out to colleagues at your current company for back-channel references without your permission. Many of the executives we work with are in senior roles at prominent organizations. Discretion is not a nice-to-have. It is foundational to how we operate.

Your profile remains in our secure database and is considered for future searches that match your experience, goals, and preferences. We do not sell, share, or distribute your data to third parties. If you ever want your information removed, contact us and we will delete it within five business days. Many of our best placements come from candidates we initially met during an earlier search and reconnected with when the right opportunity appeared.

02

The Search Process

What to expect from first contact through signed offer, and how to position yourself for success.

For retained C-suite and VP-level searches, the typical timeline looks like this:

  • Week 1-3: Initial screening conversations and Zoom interviews with our team
  • Week 3-5: Panel interviews with client stakeholders and behavioral assessments
  • Week 5-7: Finalist presentation, reference verification, and offer negotiation

Interim and fractional roles can close in under 10 days. Timelines flex based on client schedules, board involvement, and your availability. We keep you informed at every stage so you are never left wondering where things stand.

No. Never. Artemis is retained by the hiring company. All placement fees, reference checks, background verifications, and assessments are employer-funded. If you are engaged in an active search with us, career coaching, resume guidance, interview preparation, and salary negotiation support are included at no cost to you. We invest in your success because your success is how we deliver for our clients.

There are three paths. First, you can apply directly to positions posted on our Careers page. Second, you can submit your profile for general consideration. We will match you to current and future searches as they arise. Third, we may contact you directly if your background aligns with an active search. Many of the executives we place were not actively looking when we first reached out.

If you have been contacted by an Artemis recruiter, that means someone on our team has already reviewed your background and believes there is a strong potential match. We do not make cold calls to random professionals.

Your resume enters our secure database and is reviewed by a member of our recruiting team. If there is an active search that matches your profile, you will hear from us within 48 hours. If there is no immediate match, your information is retained and considered for future opportunities. We do not ghost candidates. If you reach out and ask for a status update, you will get one.

03

Interviews & Assessment

How we evaluate candidates and what we are actually looking for beyond the resume.

Our process is more thorough than what you will experience at most search firms. We conduct a structured behavioral interview focused on how you have led, not just what you have accomplished. We evaluate situational leadership, cultural adaptability, and implementation track record. For certain roles, we also use psychometric instruments like Predictive Index and bespoke case studies.

The goal is not to trip you up. It is to understand the conditions under which you perform best so we can match you with an environment where you will thrive. A great placement is one where both sides win.

A.I. is our shorthand for Actually Interviewed. It means a real person at Artemis has sat across from you, asked substantive questions, and done the work to understand who you are as a leader. We do not forward resumes we found online. We do not present candidates we have not personally vetted. When a client sees the A.I. designation on your profile, it signals that Artemis has done a deep assessment and is putting our reputation behind you. That credibility helps you stand out in a competitive process.

Be ready to talk about how you led, not just what you achieved. We will ask you to walk through specific situations: how you diagnosed problems before prescribing solutions, who you brought along in decisions, how you measured success, and what you would do differently. The best candidates are honest about scars, not just wins.

Specifically, be prepared to discuss: a time you inherited a broken process and fixed it, a leadership decision you made with incomplete information, how you built or rebuilt a team, and a result you are proud of along with the conditions that made it possible. Authenticity matters more than polish.

We use a method called reference triangulation. That means we verify performance claims from multiple independent sources, not just the three names you provide. We may ask to speak with former direct reports, peers, and supervisors to build a complete picture. We will never contact anyone without your knowledge and consent, especially at your current employer. References are conducted at the finalist stage, not early in the process.

Compensation Landscape

What Executive Roles Are Actually Paying

Median base salary ranges from recent Artemis placements. These figures exclude bonuses, equity, and long-term incentive plans, which often add 25-100% to total compensation depending on role, industry, and company stage.

Exact packages vary by industry, revenue size, geography, and the specific demands of the role. We provide detailed compensation benchmarking and negotiation support for every candidate in an active search.

04

Compensation & Offers

Negotiation, benchmarking, and how to evaluate the complete picture beyond base salary.

Yes. We provide full compensation advisory during the offer stage, including market benchmarking, total compensation analysis, counter-offer positioning, and negotiation coaching. Because we work on the employer side daily, we have real-time insight into what companies are actually willing to pay and where there is room to negotiate. Our goal is an offer that both sides feel great about, because that is what leads to long-term success.

We will never pressure you to disclose current compensation. What we do ask is your target range and what a move would need to look like for it to make sense for you. That includes base, bonus expectations, equity preferences, and any non-negotiables like location, title, or reporting structure. The more transparent you are about what matters, the better we can match you to opportunities that actually fit and advocate effectively on your behalf during negotiations.

Counter-offers are flattering but statistically risky. Research consistently shows that a significant majority of professionals who accept counter-offers leave within 12 months anyway. The underlying reasons you started looking rarely change because your employer offered more money. We will walk through the decision with you honestly, weighing the new opportunity against the counter-offer without pressure. Our 94% two-year placement success rate comes from matching people with the right situations, not from pushing people into moves they are not ready for.

"We do not look for people who need a job. We look for people who were building something, had it disrupted by forces outside their control, and are ready to build again."

Candidate Showcase

Our proactive platform that puts pre-vetted executives in front of hiring companies before a search even starts.

The Candidate Showcase is a curated platform where Artemis presents pre-vetted, A.I. (Actually Interviewed) executives to our client network. Think of it as a proactive introduction rather than a reactive search. Your profile is anonymized and presented as a professional summary highlighting your leadership capabilities, industry experience, and what type of role you are targeting. Clients who are interested request an introduction, and we connect you only with your approval.

Job boards are public and passive. The Showcase is private and curated. Your identity is protected behind an anonymized profile. Only Artemis clients with verified leadership hiring needs see Showcase candidates, and no introduction happens without your explicit consent. The Showcase also carries Artemis's credibility. When a client sees your profile, they know you have been personally vetted by our team, which puts you ahead of any cold applicant.

No cost to you. The Showcase is employer-funded, and the engagement fee for Showcase placements is reduced (25% vs. the standard 35%) because the vetting work is already done. This makes it easier for companies to engage with Showcase candidates, which means faster introductions and shorter timelines for you.

Submit your resume through our Careers page or contact us directly. If your background aligns with the leadership profiles our clients are seeking, our team will conduct a full A.I. (Actually Interviewed) assessment. If selected, we will build your anonymized Showcase profile in collaboration with you. Showcase placement is selective, not automatic. We maintain a curated roster to ensure every profile represents a high-caliber leader our clients can trust.

Practical Details

Industries, geography, interim roles, and everything else you need to know.

We operate across 12 sectors: Private Equity, Finance & Accounting, Healthcare, Technology, Construction, Oil & Gas, Manufacturing & Distribution, Logistics, Supply Chain, Legal, Marketing, and Renewable Energy. The strongest concentration is in Houston and the Gulf Coast corridor, but searches are conducted nationally and internationally. Roles outside these verticals are considered when they align with our leadership network.

Significantly. Geographic flexibility expands the number of searches you qualify for. Approximately 40% of our executive placements involve relocation support, and another 30% are hybrid or fully remote arrangements. When you submit your profile, be specific about which geographies you would consider and whether relocation, hybrid, or remote work is on the table. The clearer you are, the more opportunities we can match you with.

Yes, provided you meet visa or work-authorization requirements for the hiring country. We regularly place leaders across the U.S., Canada, and have completed searches in EMEA and APAC. If sponsorship is required, it will be noted in the opportunity description. Include your work authorization status in your application to avoid delays.

Yes. When you submit your resume, select the interim/fractional option or note it in your message. Our interim pipeline operates separately and responds within 48 hours when a contract assignment matches your skill set. Interim roles are ideal for experienced executives who want project-based engagement, bridge assignments during transitions, or the flexibility to serve multiple organizations.

Every placement includes a 90-Day Success Plan with structured check-ins at 30, 60, and 90 days. A dedicated integration coach helps you navigate stakeholder mapping, early-win identification, and cultural integration. We stay close to both you and the hiring manager to ensure a smooth transition. Our 94% two-year success rate is not an accident. It is the result of staying involved long after the offer letter is signed.

Email clientsupport@artemishou.com with a description of the issue, or call 1-833-NEW-HUNT (1-833-639-4868). A member of our team will respond within one business day. For general career conversations or to discuss your candidacy, you can also reach us through the contact form on our site.
